Hope And Change – A Haunting

February 26, 2010

Some things never change. Hope and Change, those words will haunt Obama for a long, long time. While Obama is still paying lip service to the only thing most Americans care about (that would be jobs), the unemployment numbers took a nosedive again. How many times are we going to hear that new jobs are going to be created and “now” jobs are the number one priority only to be let down over and over again. This time his “I get it” speech didn’t even last a week before health care was top of the list. My 3 year old can hold a thought longer than Obama can hold a promise.

Enough About You… Let’s Talk About Me

When are we going to say, “enough is enough”? The unemployment market simply dominos the other markets surrounding it. When the word of the rising unemployment numbers hit the newswires this week, first investors listened, then they got worried, then the market took a dive.

Even economists thought the jobless claims would decrease by about 13,000. They never expected that number would go the other way. Some of us did though.

Then comes the reasoning and the excuses. One reporting organization actually blamed it on the weather. And the dog ate my homework. The press has a tireless and full time job just laying padding around the Obama administration.

Yes Mr. President, we know it’s all about you. It’s all about how you will have one thing FINALLY that you can say, “I did this successfully. I passed health care reform.” But guess what, it’s not about you. Never has been, it never will be. In 2012 you’ll be gone while the rest of America is still cleaning up your mess. However, like you, at least the 2012 elected President will have someone to blame his mess on.

We’re certain Joe Biden remains giddy, no one told him the unemployed numbers went up. Then again, he wouldn’t have believed them. He’s still boasting how this administration created (erm saved, uh… ok gave raises to government workers) jobs. Who cares about what the people really think.

The question remains unanswered. With sickening numbers of Americans unemployed, who is going to be able to afford insurance? Whose backs will that bill come due on?
